The first thing you have to do when planning your around the world trip, is check your bank accounts, save, and then pick out where you want to go.
Until I met Andrew I never even thought about leaving the life I knew and travelling the world. I love to travel. Vacations are the best, but I never wanted to backpack around the world and not have a home base. Luckily, I didn’t have to do a lot of thinking about where I wanted to travel since Andrew had already thought about where he wanted to go for years. My only request was that we added in Cairo so I could see The Great Pyramids and Sphinx. When Andrew first discussed this trip with me he wanted to go in the opposite direction from what we’re doing now. The plan was to chase summer around the globe, but since we kept having to push the date we left we had to reverse it so that we could stick to the plan of following the warm weather.
Oh the Places You’ll Go
Some things to keep in mind when you’re planning your trip are how much you want to pack, and what kind of weather you enjoy. We are pretty terrible at packing, and always over pack, so being able to pack for summer will at least keep our packs lighter than if we were carrying puffy coats and long pants. It also helps that we’re both lovers of the sun and warm weather. If packing for one season is important to you, make sure to keep that in mind when planning your trip.
We knew to focus our trip on places in the southern hemisphere. To stretch our budget, we are spending more time in South America and Central America since the exchange rates are so much better.
