We were so excited to stay at this beautiful little boutique hostel in Santa Marta. It’s centrally located, just a couple minutes walk from the beach and the Exito supermarket is just a 5 minute walk away.
With a nice cold pool for cooling down in the sweltering heat this hostel is perfect for travellers with a taste for quality.
Even though Santa Marta is a bit more expensive to stay than most Colombian towns, the beer is still cheap. We chilled by the hostel bar and ordered a Club Colombia and an Aguila, it came to COP9,000 (£2.30).
As well as cheap beers the hostel also includes breakfast, usually a choice of scrambled eggs with different toppings, fresh orange juice and a plate of fruit. A perfect way to start your day and a nice surprise as we had no clue it was included.
For the self catering kind of travellers they have a full kitchen to take advantage of, with a couple of large fridge freezers to keep your gear fresh.
We had the pleasure of staying in the pink room, a large double room with ensuite toilet and shower.
The room had a large flat screen tv and most importantly it had the best aircon we have had in months!
Something to note that makes this hostel stand out from the rest in the area, is the very helpful English speaking staff. As well as the high speed WiFi, which is always a bonus.
With bikes to rent, a chill out area with tv and loads of excursions to book, you will never be bored staying at La Villana Boutique Hostel.
But if you’re like me, grab a beer and sit by the pool… sorted lol.
